Crowd

is to multiply

In modern times the notion of multitude promoted mainly by Spinoza , differed from the distinction of " people "and" crowd "promoted by Hobbes and prevailing today. The basic difference is that under the distinction of all citizens Hobbes is simplified as a single body unit with a single will (be a mere crowd , mass or crowd or meet the requirements to be considered as people ), while the concept of the multitude refuses that unit retaining its multiple nature.

In the second half of the twentieth century , the concept was revived in variations of anti-capitalist libertarian thinkers recently popularized within the call operaismo Italian. This concept refers to those social sectors that resisted and resists the creation and advancement of modernity based on the figure of the nation state .
